SHPEP - 6-wk free summer program aims to expand horizons for racially, ethnically, and/or economically/educationally disadvantaged freshman and sophomores

This is an exciting program spanning the US.  Thirteen (13) institutions have been granted 2016 – 2017 SHPEP program status, and each will be accepting a minimum of 80 students.  Your help is needed with outreach and recruitment.

This 6-wk summer program is free and aims to expand horizons for racially, ethnically, and/or economically/educationally disadvantaged freshman and sophomore US citizens, permanent residents, or with DACA status, and a minimum 2.5 GPA.  The program is designed to academically enrich, provide exposure to the various healthcare professions, and facilitate career development opportunities in the early formative college years.

Interested qualified students with interest in any of the healthcare professions – medicine/PA, nursing, pharmacy, public health and other health professions (PT, OT, etc), dental, vet med – should be encouraged to apply.

Applications are open now.  The national website at www.shpep.org provides necessary details and is the location where students should be sent to read more and apply.  Applicants are asked to select and prioritize (3) schools of interest.  Early Application Deadline is Feb 1 and Final Application Deadline Mar 1.
