Please see message below and attached from our Director of Career Development and Minority Enrichment at SUNY Optometry, Dr. Quy Nguyen: Are you interested in learning more about the profession of optometry?  We have opened our application cycle for new students for 2 programs: 1)  Spring Internship:  June 4 - June 14.  This is an exploratory program, designed to let students shadow in the clinics, visit private practices, go through professional school readiness workshops, network with our students and faculty, and do a research presentation to name a few. 2)  Summer Academic Program : Every Tuesday, June 4 - July 30th.  In this academic program, students will get a chance to take introductory optometry curriculum courses with our renowned faculty, for 2 elective credits, possibly transferrable to the students' college institution.  They also get a chance to shadow one day in the clinic. We are happy to announce that registration for our Spring Open House is now open at www.sunyopt.edu/openhouse . The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 1st, 2017 from 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM . Please help us share this information with all of your students. Students are welcome to bring up to 2 guests. Ohio State Optometry Admissions Visit Day See what’s possible at The Ohio State University College of Optometry Visit Day on Saturday, October 15 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Visit Day offers a special opportunity to explore careers in optometry, tour our academic and clinical facilities, learn more about the admissions process, and meet with college faculty, students, administrators, and alumni. We encourage high school and college students, as well as alumni, practitioners, and academic advisors to attend this event. Activities include college tours, admission and financial aid information sessions, optometry career panel presentations, and an opportunity to talk directly with current students, faculty, and alumni.  The college is located at 338 West Tenth Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. The Illinois College of Optometry will host its 9 th annual Focus on Your Future Summer Program for underrepresented minority undergraduate students. The program is a weeklong experience that will expose undergraduate students to the profession of optometry in a variety of settings. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and work with current optometry students, ICO Faculty & Staff, as well as practicing optometrists. There is no cost to participate in this program and room and board will be provided. Participants are responsible for their travel expenses and/or transportation cost to and from ICO.
