Loyola University Chicago Master of Arts in Medical Sciences Program

Master of Arts in Medical Sciences Program
The M.A. in Medical Sciences (MAMS) Program prepares students for successful entry into medical school programs. Our faculty are well-respected leaders in their fields, who provide up-to-date lectures that are at the forefront of modern biology. The small size of the program ensures that students receive highly individualized attention throughout their time at Loyola. In addition to coursework, students also receive one-on-one advising about their medical school application from a professional pre-health advisor and MAMS faculty. Our history of preparing and advising pre-medical students has made the MAMS program one of the most successful post-baccalaureate programs in the United States with a 95% rate of admission to medical school within the last 3 years.

Advising with MAMS faculty mentors and advisers and our partnership with the Loyola Pre-Health Professions Office, which has led over 95% of our graduates to matriculate to medical school within two years of receiving the M. A. in Medical Sciences.

 Admissions
Applicants who are a good fit for the M.A. in Medical Sciences (MAMS) program will already be good candidates for admission to medical school, but need to strengthen their academic preparation. This means that all medical school prerequisites must have been completed. Applicants are strongly encouraged to have completed at least the equivalent of an undergraduate minor in one of the natural sciences.
