University of Vermont programs - summer and post-bac
The University of Vermont has expanded the number of programs it
offers to help students gain the knowledge needed to succeed in a
professional healthcare role.
Summer Medical School Prep
This new four-week immersion program helps students successfully
progress through their final phase of pre-med curriculum. The program
includes preparing for the revised MCAT, practicing essential
interviewing skills, and building clinical experience with formal
shadowing and medical simulation center activities. This intensive
program is designed and taught by accomplished UVM College of Medicine
faculty, and each program participant will have a current medical school
student serve as their personal mentor.
Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program
The Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program has a long and successful
history of serving students who need to complete the necessary
prerequisite science courses for application to medical, dental, and
health professional graduate programs. Students benefit from
individualized advising and support, as well as the opportunity to
pursue clinical and patient-care experience in the University of Vermont
Medical Center, a leading research hospital with the region's only
Level-1 Trauma Unit.
Master of Medical Science
For
students looking to become stronger applicants to medical or other
health professional schools while earning a Master's degree, the
University of Vermont's 12-month Master of Medical Science program could
be a perfect fit. Students enhance their academic credentials through
advanced science graduate courses and learn directly from the expertise
of UVM College of Medicine faculty, practitioners, and researchers.
Public Health
The
University of Vermont also offers post-baccalaureate students
interested in a public health credential a 42-credit online Master of
Public Health program, or an 18-credit online Certificate of Graduate
Study in Public Health, with a generalist or environmental focus. All
public health programs can complement the preparatory programs listed
above.
