I am the Assistant Director of Medical Camping at Bradford Woods in Martinsville, Indiana. Bradford Woods is Indiana University's Outdoor Center and is supported by the Riley Children’s Foundation and Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
Bradford Woods operates 10 weeks of Recreation Therapy summer camps for people with cancer, sickle cell anemia, cerebral palsy, craniofacial anomalies, severe burn survivors, autism, various physical disabilities, rare genetic disorders, and Down syndrome.
We hire a staff of 80+ individuals and are currently recruiting for the summer of 2019. Bradford Woods has proven to be an excellent opportunity for students in the field of Medicine because of the holistic, therapeutic mindset and practices applied to all we do as well as the variety of camper population we see. Your students will be provided extensive hands-on experience on a daily basis and see a wide variety of medical needs and procedures. Bradford Woods has also served as a practicum/field work site for many pre-med students. We welcome the opportunity to examine this type of partnership with the professors and students within your department.

It is my desire to build a strong relationship with pre-med programs from around the country.  Therefore, it is my hope that you will encourage your students to apply for various positions at Bradford Woods for 2019.  It is our goal to fill most of our Summer Camp positions with people who see the need for and the importance of intentional holistic healthcare and therapeutic activities.  This opportunity will not only help students grow as an individual, but it will also help them develop their professional philosophy and style while working with numerous populations of campers in a high energy camp setting!

Our program includes two tracks:    Career changer track:   A two-year course of study for students with no science background, this track starts in the fall semester and allows students to complete all necessary pre-requisites for medical school and other health professions.
