Fee assictance for medical school application

The AAMC Fee Assistance Program provides financial assistance to individuals who, without this aid, would find it very difficult — if not impossible — to take the Medical College Admission Test® (MCAT®), apply to medical schools through the American Medical College Application Service® (AMCAS®), and fulfill other obligations on the path to a career in medicine. The AAMC encourages all eligible aspiring physicians to apply for fee assistance.
The AAMC is pleased to announce the following improvements to the AAMC Fee Assistance Program:
  • The number of schools that AAMC Fee Assistance Program awardees may designate in the AMCAS application will be increased for benefits awarded in the 2019 program year (begins January 7, 2019).  Awardees will now have all AMCAS fees waived for one application submission including up to 20 medical school designations. This is a total savings of up to $911. As always, additional fees will be charged for each medical school designation beyond the initial award designations.
  • We have updated and simplified the Fee Assistance Program website to make it easier to find information and navigate the Fee Assistance application process, including updated FAQs.
  • We have also published a comprehensive and easy-to-follow 2019 Fee Assistance Program Essentials guide which provides instructions on preparing materials and applying. All applicants to the program must certify that they have read the Essentials before applying.
Applicants who were approved for fee assistance prior to 2019 and have not utilized their AMCAS benefit will remain with the benefit they were approved for. Recipients awarded prior to 2019 received AMCAS fees waived for one application submission including up to 16 medical school designations.
Please visit our website for the full list of Fee Assistance Program benefits. If you or your applicants have additional questions, please contact fap@aamc.org or 202-828-0600.
Warm Regards,
Fee Assistance Program Team
