This year Penn State's College of Medicine Public Health Program is joining with the
Pennsylvania Public Health Association (PPHA)and the Pennsylvania
Office of Rural Health (PORH) for a one-day public health conference -
Addressing the Health Care and Public Health Needs of Vulnerable and
Underserved Populations: Issues and Solutions for the Delivery of
Quality Community-based Services. The conference will highlight
community and public health issues and initiatives for diverse and
underserved populations.
Presentations and posters will cover these topics and many more:
- Issues
that impact health status including, but not limited to,
community-based health care services; domestic and intimate partner
violence; substance abuse; behavioral health; maternal and child health;
and oral health;
- Best
practices in improving the health of special and underserved
populations, with a special focus on migrant and immigrant farmworkers;
- The use of data-driven and evidence-based practices in public and community health;
- Innovations in achieving Healthy People 2020 goals; and
- Improvements in community and public health indicators.
Cost to attend the conference is $69/student, $109/non-student.
