Certificate Programs in Radiation Therapy and Medical Dosimetry

Greetings from Suffolk University!

Do you have STEM students that are academically driven and inspired to make a difference, but are undecided on a career path? We are seeking students with a strong academic background for two competitive certificate programs in the dynamic field of cancer treatment; Radiation Therapy and Medical Dosimetry

Radiation therapists and medical dosimetrists fulfill two critical roles within Radiation Oncology departments. While working as members of radiation oncology teams, they collaborate to provide high-quality treatment to cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy. Medical dosimetrists use cutting edge-technology to design optimal CT-based treatment plans according to physician directives. The goal is to ensure maximal dose to tumors while sparing surrounding normal organs. Radiation therapists work directly with patients and utilize a linear accelerator to precisely deliver highly focused radiation treatments. They develop, communicate, and evaluate action plans that ensure careful administration of the treatments.

Suffolk offers post-baccalaureate Certificate programs in Radiation Therapy and in Medical Dosimetry. Both programs are 21-months and consist of coursework and clinical rotations. Students spend over 1300 hours of supervised clinical training in renowned Greater Boston-area hospitals. Through small class sizes and instruction by professionals currently practicing in radiation oncology, graduates finish with a mastery of contemporary treatment techniques and standards of care. Students are qualified to apply to take their board certification examinations after completing our JRCERT-accredited programs. Graduates leave prepared for entry-level positions in radiation therapy or medical dosimetry. And because of Suffolk's location, many of our graduates find employment at regional medical centers.
